youngballymun is a community-based promotion, prevention and early intervention programme working across the lifecycle pre-birth to early adulthood, established in 2007 and co-funded by the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs and Atlantic Philanthropies.

youngballymun has on offer two fixed term contract posts to March 2012. These positions will attract those who are highly motivated and who wish to make a contribution to enhanced learning and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people in Ballymun and inform practice and policy development.

The salaries for these positions are negotiable and are aligned with public sector salary scales.

 

youngballymun Projects Officer

The Projects Officer will work closely with the youngballymun management team and will provide logistical supports to the Chief Executive in the ongoing implementation of the youngballymun strategy. The post will have active projects initially in four key areas of work – Communications, Events, Policy Work and Documentation – and will further develop and evolve in response to emerging needs. The successful candidate will have a third level qualification and a proven track record in service provision, communications or policy work together with strong written communications skills and the focus and flexibility to make a significant contribution to delivery on the mission and aims of youngballymun.

Write Minded Family & Community Literacy Development Officer

youngballymun in conjunction with the Drumcondra Education Centre is appointing a Family & Community Literacy Development Officer to support the ongoing development of literacy and oral language in Ballymun through youngballymun’s Write Minded Service. Write Minded is an integrated strategy that works across school and community settings to support literacy development, aiming to improve the literacy attainment of children and young people in Ballymun through increasing the time, focus and quality of attention given to supporting their literacy development. The Drumcondra Education Centre is the education service provider for schools, teachers, parents and Boards of Management in Dublin north city and county. 

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in working with children and young people, their families and communities in the activation and delivery of home and community learning or development initiatives.  They will also have an understanding of the nature of educational disadvantage. Secondment from a current position may be arranged if appropriate.
