COMMUNITY BOARD MEMBERS

Lilian O'Brien

Hi my name is Lilian O’Brien.  I have lived in Ballymun for the past 40 years, I am a widow, a mother of three adult sons and I have an extended family of three daughters in law and seven grand children - all of whom I adore.

I have worked in the Community and Family Training Agency for over 20 years.  I am also very involved in my parish which is St. Joseph’s, Poppintree and I have a seat on the Pastoral Council.  I am also a member of the Poppintree Neighbourhood Forum and recently I have become a Board member of youngballymun.  I am finding these meetings very interesting.

For me, living and working in Ballymun has been very good and a rewarding experience.

Denise Fitzpatrick

Hello, my name is Denise Fitzpatrick and I have recently joined the Board of Management of younballymun.

I have been living in Ballymun the last 17 years and have three boys, Daniel, Anthony and Glen.  My involvement in the community started when Anthony first participated in the Holy Spirit Summer Festival when he was 5 years old and I went along to help as a parent on a summer project day trip.  This community involvement has continued throughout as the children were growing up and for the last four years I have become a co-ordinator of the Holy Spirit Summer Festival .  During the school term, I also work with the Aisling Project After Schools Club which I thoroughly enjoy – helping young people reach their potential through community teamwork and leadership benefits all in Ballymun.

Elaine Smith

My name is Elaine Smith, I have lived in Ballymun from a very young age, and was educated in my local primary and secondary schools.   Growing up in Ballymun, I joined my local youth club and summer project and stayed in touch as an adult by volunteering as a leader.  I am now working as a Youth Worker with Ballymun Regional Youth Resource based in the RECO which is a hive of youth activity all year round.   I am presently a student of Maynooth University on the Youth and Community Diploma Programme.   I am also a recent member of the youngballymun board.
