yblive Summer 2009, Ready, Steady, Grow
Welcome to Ready, Steady, Grow
Hello everybody. I’m Carmel Byrne and I am delighted to have just joined youngballymun as the Administrator for Ready, Steady, Grow. I have already had the pleasure of meeting some people in the community thanks to Florence Lawlor and Anne Fahey from the Ballymun Home Support Services who took me out and about on their visits. The first strand of Ready, Steady, Grow is an ante-natal programme established by the HSE Primary Care Team so you will see more of me in the near future putting up posters to advertise those Ante-Natal classes which start on Tuesday, 8th September with Vanda Cummins and Angela O’Malley. Angela has some information on the ante-natal classes in this newsletter and you can always just ring her on 01 8467012 if you want to find out more.
The second strand of Ready, Steady Grow is the Parent Child Psychological Support Programme where I will be delighted to welcome parents and babies to their developmental check-ups starting in September. I have visited the Mary Mercer Clinic in Jobstown where they have been successfully running this programme for the last eight years. It’s great that Ballymun will now have that continuity of care for parents and babies in a family-friendly service that is set up for every family with a baby in Ballymun.
The third strand of the programme is the Infant Mental Health Service where the Ready, Steady, Grow team together with local partners already active in the area look forward to assisting you in nurturing your relationship with your baby, right through from the ante-natal period up until three years of age in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We will be organising some very interesting training and workshops and I look forward to giving you more information on those in the next few months.
At the moment I am based in the youngballymun office on the third floor in Axis. You can contact me at 8832186 or email me at carmel@youngballymun.org. However, Ready, Steady, Grow will soon be moving to its own premises on the ground floor of the former Youthreach premises beside the Virgin Mary Schools and Ballymun East Community Centre so I am looking forward to being able to welcome you to a community and family friendly Ready, Steady, Grow.
