Advance HighScope Training
The training content has been identified from:
- PQA findings carried out by the Trainer
- Service managers and staff consultation
- Weekly mentoring/ support visits to by the HighScope coordinator
The purpose of the advanced training is to further deepen and embed existing knowledge and practice of the HighScope approach in each service. Equally it seeks to build capacity among practitioners in Ballymun to sustain and increase curriculum quality levels into the future. Training content completed to date include
- Child observation record keeping – COR
- Advanced adult child interaction strategies
The remaining 3 sessions to be concluded by April 2011 include
- Early maths and numeracy
- Language, literacy and communication
- Social and emotional development.
Some areas of the implementation process supported by the HighScope Coordinator include;
- Weekly observational feedback session with Staff / Manager/ Team
- Ongoing sourcing and purchase of equipment and materials including, baby ,toddler and preschool rooms.
- Reviewing and developing structural aspects of the curriculum, such as Daily routine and learning environments
- Observing and enhancing process elements of the curriculum such as
- Adult/ Child interaction strategies.
- Providing individual assistance and support to staff on practice issues arising.
- Meeting with each service team to support discussion /reflection and planning of short/medium and long term objectives
- Coordinating and devising training schedule and content for Advanced Training and Infant and Toddler training ( to begin in March 2012).
