Evaluation Programme

youngballymun's research and evaluation programme is managed by Dr Gemma Cox.  Gemma manages the contracted evaluations, provides technical support, promotes principles of evidence-based practice across the community and leads the Performance Story Report. 

In the 2010-2013 phase of work Gemma worked in close collaboration with Research Advisory Groups for each of the commissioned evaluations, the Evaluation Sub-Committee of the youngballymun Board and the Expert Advisory Committee.  The Expert Advisory Committee (EAC), provided independent advice, valued support and critical oversight to help ensure an integrated and dynamic evaluation process.  Members of the EAC are national and international experts in research and evaluation:

  • Martin Gleeson, Literacy Expert, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick 
  • Mark Dynarski, President, Pemberton Research
  • Marjorie Smith, Professor of the Psychology of the Family, and Co-Director of the Thomas Coram Research Unit, University of London
  • Eilis Hennessey Senior Lecturer from the School of Psychology, UCD
  • Gemma Cox and Eleanor McClorey youngballymun sat on the committee
  • The Department of Children and Youth Affairs and The Atlantic Philanthropies were also represented at the committee

In the second phase of the work, The Performance Story Report process was supported by a Research Advisory Group of leading Irish academics and reserachers in this field.  It was comprised of the following members:
